Background
The best jobs are not always those that last the longest. The speed of change and the increasing volatility of the business climate mean that many organisations cannot predict with any confidence the nature and extent of the resources that they need in order to manage the future, even a few months ahead.

The depth of the market for interim managers of all disciplines has increased dramatically in recent years and the finance function has been at the forefront of this trend.

Usually, the need arises without much warning – a resignation, a major fraud, a natural disaster or an urgent need to respond to a bid approach – all of these may require the services of an interim.

Typically, successful interim managers are mid to late career professionals whose superior skills and ability to hit the ground running set them apart. They enjoy the challenge and the variety and, in exchange for above average rewards, are willing to change industry, even sector, at short notice and do whatever it takes to complete the assignment. If this is for you, beware – you will never be content again with nine to five.
